Week of August 31 to September 4
Happy Week 3!
Math Facts:
Our focus for the week is addition review 2. Make sure any missed or incorrect problems are written out 3 times each for homework.
1st Years:
This week we are working on multiplication. We are multiplying whole numbers 2 digits by 2 digits and 2 digits by 3 digits. We are also working on multiplying multiples of 10.
2nd Years:
This week we are working on adding and subtracting positive and negative numbers.
Here are some notes we took in class:
positive + positive = positive
negative + negative = negative
Subtracting a negative is the same as adding.
Subtracting a positive or adding a negative is SUBTRACTION!
2 like signs when subtracting = positive
2 unlike sign when subtracting = negative
AS ALWAYS PLEASE ASK FOR HELP IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND. I AM NOT A MIND READER. NOT UNDERSTANDING IS NOT A GOOD REASON FOR NOT DOING YOUR HOMEWORK.

Week of August 24 - 28
Welcome to week 2!
Math Facts:
This week we are going to continue on our math facts review. Our focus is review of addition facts. Monday thru Thursday the class takes a 60 second practice test with 40 problems. Any problems they miss, they will have to write 3 times each for homework.
1st Years:
We will begin working on Unit 1: Number and Operations. This week we have Lesson 1: Multiplying Whole Numbers. When you multiply, the numbers being multiplied are called factors, and the answer is called the product.
2nd Years:
We will begin working on Unit 1: Number and Operations. This week we have Lesson 1: Integers. Integers are whole numbers and their opposites. Integers can be compared using a number line. As you move from left to right on the number line, the numbers are ordered from least to greatest. All negative numbers are less than zero. Use <> to compare numbers.
